Festive lights, winter treats and holiday cheer will fill historic Franklin Square all season long for its all-ages holiday festival and light show. With the spectacular Electrical Spectacle light show as its main feature — the show employs more than 50,000 twinkling lights and dynamic holiday soundtrack — the seasonal outdoor attraction rounds out the ongoing festivities with holiday shopping, themed events and more. *This festival is offered through December 31. Timings are between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm on weeknights and 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Fire trucks and floats strung in glittering lights will start at the Scottish Rite and drive down West Franklin Ave. to Grant Ave. toward Knight Park. The Parade will then turn on Browning and follow the park around Park Ave. to Collings and back to N. Atlantic Ave. to end. Trucks from fire companies and organizations all over the region compete for top honors and prizes. Santa follows on the last truck to greet children and spectators and send season’s greetings!
December 8 & 9: Friday (6pm-9pm) and Saturday (3pm-9pm)
What better way to kick off the holiday season than a candlelight tour of the Whitall House! See the house decorated in all natural elements, learn about the tastes and traditions of colonial Christmases, and visit with our hearth cookers working on a holiday feast!
Journey to the Land of the Sweets for Philadelphia’s most beloved holiday tradition. Giant mice, dancing snowflakes, a growing Christmas tree, and an enchanted nutcracker are sure to delight the inner child in everyone. Pennsylvania Ballet’s combination of amazing dancers, gorgeous sets and costumes, and fabulous live orchestra make George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® one of the greatest holiday shows in the country. *The Nutcracker opens on December 9 and runs through December 31. A sensory-friendly performance is offered on December 27 at 12:00 pm.
