This class will prepare children between the ages of 3 through 5 for the arrival of the newborn sibling. Through interactive activities, the children will talk about their role as the BIG brother or sister, feelings regarding the change & infant care with their doll or stuffed animal and discuss healthy practices. If current visitor policy allows, they may visit postpartum to see where mom will be when she is in the hospital. We request that each child bring a doll or stuffed animal to this class. A snack for the children is provided. PLEASE BE SURE TO REGISTER EACH CHILD INDIVIDUALLY.

Exploring nature in a kayak is a healthy and fun way to enjoy the outdoors. Our course begins with a brief introduction and safety talk from our friendly paddling instructors, who will share their knowledge gained from years of kayaking. They'll outfit you with a personal flotation device (PFD), kayak and paddling equipment, giving you insight on the best ways to set up your boat. Then, you'll receive instruction on a variety of paddling techniques. **Kids under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

This year the Museum is teaming up with our friends from Paws Discovery Farm for our annual Pumpkin PAWlooza! Activities at Paws Discovery Farm include: PONY RIDES, decorate-a-pumpkin, hayride, petting zoo and an obstacle course courtesy of Kid Fit. Activities at the Garden State Discovery Museum include: fall crafts, a moon bounce and a PAWS Patrol meet and greet. The admission bracelet is good for both locations!

Details: This class is an introduction for expectant parents, adoptive parents, grandparents, nannies & caregivers to all aspects of infant care. Topics include but are not limited to: basic infant care including feeding, bathing, diapering, and characteristics of the newborn. A child passenger safety seat technician will provide training in the proper use & installation of child safety car seats. When available, a pediatrician will also be present for part of the class.

Details: Archery is one of L.L.Bean's most popular Discovery Courses for adults and children, making it a great outing that everyone in your family will enjoy. After brief introductions and a safety talk, you'll receive helpful advice on the proper technique for correctly holding a bow and releasing an arrow for optimal accuracy and precision. With guidance and support from our friendly, expert instructors, you'll practice hitting targets with a recurve bow. **Kids under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. New Mommy Meet Up is an open discussion of breastfeeding, mothering, sleeping, parenting and anything else that comes up. Although facilitated by a Board Certified Lactation Consultant, mother to mother advice and support are invaluable tools on your breastfeeding journey.
